He aha he Paperback Guerrilla? What’s a Paperback Guerrilla?
Paperback Guerrillas is a podcast for mana enhancing kōrero (life-improving conversations). We talk with people from all walks of life to discover tools, strategies, and insights, or even just provoke whakaaro (thoughts), to empower everyday people to create positive change. We hope this show helps make life better for someone, maybe you.
The show is mostly hosted by Pera Barrett (Shoebox Christmas, NZer of the Year 2019 Local Hero) along with a regular Paperback Guerrillas whānau of Te Awanui Reeder (Nesian Mystik, Big River Creative), Sam Poananga, David White, Warena Wainohu and more.
The podcast started as a group of mates breaking down the kaupapa (subject) of fiction and non-fiction books we’ve read and enjoyed. We reckon as Māori and Pacific Islanders, it’s worth talking more about books. You could probably call it a book club, we called it Paperback Guerrillas. We expanded from there to wider-reaching conversations and interviews, so decided to record these in podcast form.
This New Zealand podcast is proudly Māori run and focused because that’s a good place to start, we know we need to hear from more good role models. It’s recorded here in Aotearoa because this is a beautiful place to be. Regular guests you can expect to hear from, especially in the pukapuka (book) focused episodes, are Pera Barrett, Te Awanui Reeder, Sam Poananga, Warena Wainohu, David White and others.
Live on iTunes and all major podcast platforms.
